The Marquette Catholic boys tennis team continued its winning ways Thursday evening, downing Calumet by a score of 5-0.
MQT’s No. 2 doubles tandem of Cormack Bardol/Robert Gronmery put the Blazers on the board by virtue of a 6-2, 6-2 dismissal of Brett Barnowski and Eric Koi. Jon Andershock and Aidan McDonnell extended the lead to 2-0 following a 6-3, 6-3 defeat of James Sopariaz/Javier Lopez atop doubles.
Marquette clinched the shutout via three convincing singles victories. Carter Moldenhauer made quick work of his opponent at No. 1 singles, defeating Robert Huff 6-0, 6-1 to clinch the match. Buddy Jaffee followed suit with a 6-1, 6-1 dismissal of Daniel Nieto at No. 2. Kevin Robson provided the cherry on top with a 6-3, 6-1 triumph at No. 3 versus Juan Lopez.
- The Blazers (6-2) will have the weekend off to prepare for Kankakee Valley. The two teams will meet Monday at 5 pm at KVHS.
