A sweep of singles play helped guide the Marquette Catholic High School boys tennis team to a 4-1 victory at Kankakee Valley on Monday afternoon.
After falling behind 1-0 following the completion of the No. 2 doubles match, the Blazers knotted things up thanks to a grueling effort from Joe and Jon Andershock. The brothers persevered for a 6-2, 5-7, 10-6 triumph atop doubles to make it a 1-1 contest heading into singles play.
MQT ran away with the match once there.
Buddy Jaffee blanked Sean Sanders at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0. The No. 1 singles tilt saw Carter Moldenhauer make quick work of Austin Atterbury with Moldenhauer emerging with a 6-1, 6-0 result.
Kevin Robson rallied for a 2-6, 6-0, 6-1 victory over Dan Mook at No. 3 singles.
A busy week of tennis continues tomorrow for MQT (7-2). The Blazers return to the road Tuesday to face Bishop Noll Institute at 4 pm CT.
