Sophomore Jonathan Allen and senior Robert Barron were named Michigan City News-Dispatch All-LaPorte County Honorable Mention, as announced by the publication Wednesday evening.
Allen batted .328 and reached base at a club-high .443 clip for the Blazers this past spring. Perched atop the Blazer batting order, Allen led Marquette with 19 runs scored, 10 walks, and 12 stolen bases. Allen enjoyed a breakout campaign on the hill, recording a staff-best 2.95 earned-run average while amassing a 32:12 strikeout-to-walk ratio. His 38.0 innings pitched were also a team high.
Barron enjoyed his best season in a Marquette uniform in 2019. His .356 batting average was second only to classmate Brandon Spangler (.360), and the infielder registered a .442 OBP. Barron was second on the team in runs batted in (9) and runs scored (10). He thrived in clutch situations, posting a .409 batting average with runners in scoring position.
