Daniela Bellido‘s spectacular 2019 campaign came to a close Saturday at the IHSAA Battle Ground Regional. The freshman fired a steady 81, scoring no more than a bogey on any hole.
Bellido was superb off the tee, making a living in the middle of the fairway. She recorded a 38 (+2) on the front nine by virtue of a birdie, five pars, and three bogeys.
Bellido endured a string of bogeys on the back nine but an outstanding short game enabled her to avoid a big number. Her 43 on the back nine parlayed into a round of 81 (+9).
An 81 in the 2018 Battle Ground Regional would’ve been enough to get an individual into a playoff for a State Finals berth, but this year, the cut was 79.
Bellido joins Teresa Dorado as the second Marquette girls golfer in the last three years to compete in the IHSAA Regionals.
