Heavy rain made for a sloppy, treacherous track at Saturday’s Culver Academies Invite. The Blazers persevered, however, behind a top-20 finish from senior Jake Tarnow.
Tarnow covered the 5k course in 18:25.3 – a five-minute, 56-second per mile pace. He captured 19th place out of 227 runners.
Senior William Bogan crossed the line at 20:55.0, good for 88th place. Sophomore Wil Crane stopped the clock at 22:44.4 (141st place) while freshman Jacob Zientarski posted a 30:29.3 in his first-ever race at Culver.
Mary Cate Neary paced Marquette on the girls side. The freshman completed the race in 25:26.3. Sophomore Kenzie Losinski followed Neary with a 28:03.6 finish. Sophomore Ava Zientarski clocked a 29:13.3 time.
Marquette will compete in the Portage (Mich.) Invite next weekend.
