A successful 2019 season came to a close Saturday evening in the Sectional 49 final at Morgan Township. Marquette, which played for its first sectional crown in seven years, fell 25-17, 25-8, 25-17 to a solid Cherokee squad.
In her final match as a Blazer, senior Ally McConnell accumulated four kills, five digs, the team’s lone ace, and a block kill. Classmate Sara Molina recorded a pair of block kills in the season finale.
Junior Ryleigh Grott paced Marquette in the kills department with seven while Mikayla Moyer tallied nine digs. Sophomore Jenna Kirby logged 15 assists.
The Blazers finished 2019 with an 18-15 record and bid farewell to their six graduating seniors: McConnell, Molina, Allyson Farkas, Emily Lasky, Madi Lindsey, and Jillian Pullen.
