Senior captains Jake Tarnow and Ally McConnell announced their college plans this past week.
Tarnow, who averaged 17.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.0 assists for the 2019-20 squad, will continue his playing career at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana. The Little Giants compete in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) alongside nationally-ranked Wittenburg University, The College of Wooster, and prolific rival DePauw. Wabash has won 38 games over its past two seasons, including a 17-9 mark in 2019-20.
McConnell pledged her commitment to Indiana University-Northwest following a stellar senior campaign that saw her finish with the third-highest scoring average in program history. The two-time state champion paired 19.2 PPG with 7.3 RPG for the Blazers this past winter. The RedHawks have also tallied 38 victories the last two seasons, including a dominant 27-8 run in 2018-19, a campaign that concluded with a second-round appearance in the NAIA National Tournament.
Both Tarnow and McConnell were recognized as Indiana Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) All-State Honorable Mention honorees in their final seasons with the Blazers. Additionally, Tarnow earned a spot on the IBCA Boys Academic All-State Team.
Tarnow becomes the fourth boys basketball player over the last three years to commit to a college basketball program. McConnell represents the sixth girls basketball player since 2018 to do so.
