Marquette held its own Wednesday evening at the LeRoy Courts, but Michigan City eventually prevailed with a 4-1 win over the Blazers in the IHSAA LaPorte Sectional semifinal.
While the team’s season came to a close, Sean Bardol’s straight-set win at No. 1 singles meant he’ll live to fight another day. The junior upended Connor Reynolds 6-4, 6-3 to advance in the individual portion of the tournament at a time and date to be determined.
Michigan City took both doubles matches.
Junior Brendan Mack and senior Aidan McDonnell fell 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 to Michigan City’s John Bruning and Lucas White. No. 2 doubles saw sophomore Colin Thompson and junior Noah Wadle drop a 6-2, 6-0 decision to Kyle Yackus/Ryan Cuma.
Senior Cormack Bardol gave Josiah Miller all he could handle at No. 2 singles before Miller claimed a 6-2, 6-3 decision. Sophomore Riggs Bardol had a 6-3, 6-0 setback at No. 3 opposite Luke Poulin.
