Facing an opponent on serve with a double set point, senior Sean Bardol rallied for a gallant 6-3, 7-5 victory at No. 1 singles at Wednesday’s IHSAA LaPorte Sectional.
Marquette fell 4-1 to Michigan City, but Bardol advanced in the individual portion of the tournament.
Junior Riggs Bardol battled Josiah Miller before falling 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Junior Colin Thompson gave it all he had at No. 3 singles, but ended up on the wrong end of a 6-4, 6-4 decision.
Marquette’s doubles tandem of Alex Firov and Noah Wadle suffered a 6-2, 6-0 setback to Lucus White/Kyle Yarkus at No. 1 doubles.
A date and time of Sean Bardol’s next match have yet to be determined.
Wednesday signaled the end of Wadle’s tenure as a Blazer. Marquette wishes to commend the graduating senior for all his contributions to the program over the last four years.
