Marquette honored its lone senior – Michael Sakich – on a picture-perfect Friday afternoon at Michigan City Golf Course. Sakich responded by carding the team’s low round, but Illiana Christian prevailed 168-191.
Sakich brushed aside a challenging start by playing +3 golf over the final six holes. Sophomore Robert Pruzin picked up pars on Nos. 1 and 6 en route to a 47.
Freshman Charlie O’Halloran matched Pruzin’s 47 following his par on No. 9. Sophomore Romeo Bui fired a 51 to round out the scoring for the Blazers.
Illiana Christian’s Lawton Bouwer earned medalist honors with a three-over 39.
Marquette (9-3) will have a week to prepare for postseason play. Sectional action is slated to begin next Friday at Beechwood GC in LaPorte.
