Marquette saw a two-sets-to-one lead evaporate Monday evening at the Scholl Center. After outscoring visiting Westville 75-63 through three sets, the Blazers fell 25-22 in the fourth set and 15-6 in the decisive fifth.

The Blackhawks jetted out to a 7-0 lead in the opening set only to see Marquette respond with 10 unanswered points. The Blazers rode that momentum to a 25-13 first-set win.

Despite the two sides playing a tight contest the rest of the way, both Westville and Marquette traded extended scoring rallies over the final four sets.

Senior Ally McConnell and sophomore Julia Molina led the Blazers with nine kills each. Junior Ryleigh Grott added eight.

Freshman Diana Fields put her stamp on the match yet again with a strong service game. The rookie accounted for four aces.

Senior Sara Molina was active at the net with five block kills. Sophomore Jenna Kirby piled up 16 assists.

Sophomore libero Melissa Canelo paced Marquette with 16 digs while Kirby and McConnell pitched in 13 and 11, respectively.

Marquette (5-5) will head east Tuesday when it visits South Bend St. Joseph. First serve in the JV match is slated for 6 pm ET/5 pm CT with varsity to follow.
