Marquette fell to No. 4 Class 3A Culver Academies on Tuesday night by a score of 74-39.
Senior Colin Kenney guided the Blazers with 18 points. Junior Jake Tarnow recorded eight in support.
Marquette trailed 18-10 after the first quarter before the deficit expanded to 26 by halftime. Culver, which is ranked 16th overall in the state in the latest Indiana Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) poll, was led by Trey Galloway who had 18 of his game-high 23 by the intermission.
The Blazers didn’t go quietly, though. Kenney racked up 12 points in the third quarter, and four players scored in the final frame.
Marquette (10-7) faces a quick turnaround as it will prepare to take on Bishop Noll on Thursday evening in Hammond. Tip-off of the JV game is scheduled for 5:30 pm with varsity to follow around 7 pm.
