Three players scored in double figures for Marquette on Saturday afternoon at East Chicago, but the Blazers fell 57-49 to the Cardinals.
Senior Colin Kenney scored 12 of his team-high 16 points in the first half. Classmate Joe Andershock also added six across the first two quarters, but the Blazers trailed 29-22 at the break.
Senior Dayn Staab helped make it a two-possession game with six third-quarter points. EC Central took a 40-34 advantage into the final frame. Staab finished with 10 on the night.
Karsen Grott popped a pair of treys and Jalen Russell added one of his own to shrink the deficit to three points with 17 seconds to play. However, that was as close as it would get as the Cardinals hit their free-throws down the stretch.
Marquette (10-6) will prepare for a three-game week. The Blazers host Class 3A No. 4 Culver Academies on Tuesday evening at 7 pm at the Scholl Center.
