Marquette Catholic and Goshen went back-and-forth Friday night before the host Redhawks prevailed 72-70 in double overtime.
Colin Kenney was 14-for-24 from the floor to finish with 34 points, five steals, and three assists. Senior Buddy Jaffee canned three of his seven three-point attempts to record 11 points. Fellow classmate Chandler Goodwin accumulated nine points and seven boards.
The Blazers led 34-24 at the half, but Goshen tied the game by the conclusion of the third quarter. The two teams remained tied 55-55 after four periods.
Jaffee and Joe Andershock knocked down triples in the overtime sessions while nine of Kenney’s 34 points came after regulation. However, Goshen emerged 72-70 in double overtime.
Marquette (10-14) will open postseason play Tuesday evening versus North Newton (2-17) in IHSAA Sectional play. The Blazers and Spartans are set to tip-off at 5:30 pm at Hebron High School.
