Maddie Rowley and Riley Lindsey guided a comeback effort for the Blazers Tuesday evening at Culver Community, but the host Cavaliers scored twice in the final nine minutes to defeat Marquette, 5-3.
Rowley halved a 2-0 deficit in the 36th minute with a Lindsey-assisted strike.
With the Blazers trailing 2-1 at halftime, Lindsey needed all of 32 seconds to record the equalizer. The goal was her eighth of the season.
Ten minutes later, Rowley struck again to nudge Marquette ahead 3-2. Culver answered back in the 55th minute, however, to knot it up at 3-3.
The match appeared destined for a draw, but the Cavs registered a 72nd-minute goal and an insurance tally in the 79th minute to secure the 5-3 win.
Sophomore Sydney Burroughs recorded 16 saves for the Blazers.
Marquette will put a bow on the regular season Thursday evening at Morgan Township. The Blazers and Cherokees are slated to get underway at 5 pm in Valparaiso.
