Marquette kept it to a seven-point tilt with just a minute to play in the third quarter of its Thursday night affair at South Bend Adams, but the Eagles went on a shooting binge over the closing nine minutes to emerge with a 55-24 win.
The Blazers took an early 2-1 lead only to see Adams make it a two-possession game by the end of the first quarter.
Adams stretched the margin to 12 points at the five-minute mark of the second but Marquette responded with a 6-0 half-closing run. Sophomore Ana Blakely hooked up senior Ryleigh Grott on a pair of baskets and Ally McConnell fed Izabel Galindo on another.
The Blazers trailed 19-13 at the break.
Marquette and Adams traded scoring surges to open the second half. Grott, McConnell, and Blakely shouldered the scoring load during an 8-0 run that made it a 26-21 contest with three minutes left in the third. It was 30-23 a couple of minutes later before the Eagles nailed three three-pointers in a 34-second span. Adams took a 41-23 edge into the fourth quarter and extended it to 55-24 by the close.
Grott led Marquette with 10 points while McConnell and Galindo added six each. Blakely recorded two points and four assists.
Marquette (1-1) returns to South Bend next Tuesday evening to face Career Academy South Bend in a varsity-only showdown.
