Freshman Rose Pastoret and senior Kaitlyn Silvas won comfortably in singles play at Crown Point on Thursday, but the Bulldogs prevailed 3-2 in Crown Point.

Crown Point opened the afternoon by sweeping doubles action. Michaela Jennings/Kassandra Loza dropped a 6-2, 6-0 affair to Emily Campbell and Caroline Sarbieski at No. 1. The Bulldogs closed out doubles with a 6-3, 6-0 victory in the No. 2 match between Mackenzie Bardol/Jade Isbell and Caroline Johnson/Andrianna Skurteska.

Marquette dominated singles play with convincing wins at No. 1 and 2. Pastoret downed Ana Maksimovich 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 while Silvas defeated Emily Rhee 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2. Crown Point snagged the match at No. 3, however, thanks to Karyle Sopczak’s 6-0, 6-2 victory over Evan Chambers.

Marquette (1-2) returns to the court next Monday at Boone Grove. The Lady Blazers and Lady Wolves are set to square off at 5 pm CT.
