Freshman Jason Kobe and senior Jake Tarnow combined to outscore Steel City Academy themselves Wednesday evening in an 85-48 victory at Bishop Noll Academy in Hammond.
Kobe poured in 15 of his game-high 30 points in the opening quarter. Tarnow finished with 28 points – 17 of which came in the second half.
Kobe drained three of his five treys in the first period as Marquette led 27-15 after eight minutes. Thanks to a stout defensive effort in the second quarter, the Blazers opened a 48-21 lead at halftime. Sophomore Britain Harris recorded eight of his 14 points in the second stanza.
Tarnow (11) and Kobe (7) combined for 18 of Marquette’s 22 points in the third quarter.
The Blazers went on to post their largest margin of victory of the 2019-2020 campaign.
As a team, the Blazers hit 10 three-pointers on the day. Wednesday marked the first time Marquette held an opponent to fewer than 50 points.
The Blazers will have some time to prepare for their next test. Diocesan-foe Andrean will host Marquette on Saturday, January 11th at 1:30 pm.
