Colin Kenney knocked down four three-pointers en route to a game-high 27 points Wednesday afternoon as Marquette opened 2019 with a 73-63 triumph over Perspectives School of Technology.
Kenney accounted for 22 of his 27 during the middle quarters. Classmate Joe Andershock shouldered the load in the opening period, though. Andershock scored all nine of his points in the first to help the Blazers break out to a 23-11 lead after eight minutes.
Marquette’s offense continued to operate at a highly-efficient pace in the second stanza. Junior Jake Tarnow and senior Karsen Grott combined to shoot 5-for-6 from the free-throw line in support of a 13-point quarter from Kenney.
The lead swelled to 44-27 by halftime.
Kenney drained two treys in the third quarter while Grott pitched in six more to boost Marquette’s advantage. Grott (13) and Tarnow (11) joined Kenney in double figures as the Blazers improved to 7-3.
Marquette will make the return trip to Hammond on Thursday afternoon when it’ll meet Harvest Prep (OH). Tip-off from Bishop Noll High School is scheduled for 4:30 pm CT.
