Another hotly-contested tennis match between Marquette and Hammond Morton went the Blazers’ way by a 3-2 margin. A year after defeating the Governors on its home court, Marquette emerged victorious by the same score Thursday evening in Hammond.
Junior Sean Bardol boosted his No. 1 singles record to 4-1 following a 6-3, 6-3 triumph over Eric Rubio. No. 2 singles was about as tight as it gets with Cormack Bardol ending up on the wrong end of a 7-6, 7-5 tilt versus Landon Colgrove. Morton’s Anderson Johnson recorded a 6-3, 6-1 win versus senior Noah Wadle.
The Blazers received another critical sweep of doubles play to notch the victory.
Senior Aidan McDonnell and junior Brendan Mack persevered 7-5, 7-5 versus Andrew Frost/Maurice Grant at No. 1. Marquette sophomores Colin Thompson and Riggs Bardol seized the decisive point at No. 2 by virtue of their 6-3, 6-4 win over Kevin Grasha and Zack Umar.
Marquette (3-2) will close out the week Friday afternoon at Illiana Christian. First serve from Dyer is slated for 4:45 pm.
