Marquette and La Lumiere split the doubles portion of its girls tennis match Wednesday in LaPorte, but the Lady Blazers took home the victory thanks to victories in two of three singles flights. Marquette improved to 7-4 on the season ahead of Thursday’s Senior Day.

Juniors Sydni Thomas and Sophie Thompson were leading the No. 1 Lady Laker tandem of Savannah Star/Lucy Smith 7-6, 3-1 when La Lumiere forfeited. Kennedy Lynn and Paige Pizarek fell by a narrow 6-4, 6-4 deficit in No. 2 doubles to Megan Gauselin and Jessica Shoub.

Freshman Emily Silvas met little resistance in her showdown with Glades Zhang at No. 1. Silvas downed Zhang by a score of 6-3, 6-1. Junior Jade Isbell dropped a 6-1, 6-2 match to Haley Harkness at No. 2 singles.

Senior Kassandra Loza secured the match for the Lady Blazers at No. 3 singles with her 7-6, 6-1 triumph over Kate Ymec.

Marquette (7-4) welcomes Gary West Side to the Elston Courts tomorrow evening at 5 pm. The Senior Day ceremony will take place prior to the match.
