Junior Sean Bardol rallied for an exciting 3-6, 6-2, 10-6 victory atop singles action Thursday afternoon at the Elston Courts, but stellar doubles play helped lift visiting Hanover Central to a 4-1 team win over the Blazers.
The Wildcats (4-0) collected 6-0, 6-0 victories at both doubles flights.
Sophomore Colin Thompson and Jack Miedma went back-and-forth at No. 3 singles, but Miedma emerged with a 7-6 (3), 6-2 win. Senior Cormack Bardol fell 6-2, 6-0 to Dom Amadio at No. 2.
The other four matches concluded before Bardol and Hanover Central’s Aidan Beilke duked it out in a third-set tiebreaker. With all eyes on Court 1, Bardol seized the match by virtue of a 10-6 score.
Marquette (2-2) closes out a three-match homestand Wednesday afternoon when Hammond Academy of Science & Technology invades the Elston Courts in a 4:30 pm contest.
