A year ago to the day after defeating Lighthouse College Prep Academy by a point in overtime, the Blazers dealt the Lions a familiar 76-75 overtime loss in Gary.

Juniors Britain Harris and Kaden Manna were instrumental, registering 21 points each. Sophomore Jason Kobe scored 10 of his 17 points from the fourth quarter on as Marquette improved to 4-3.

Manna was one of five Blazers who scored in the first quarter. He had four while sophomore Lukas Balling added a three, but Marquette trailed 17-13 heading to the second quarter.

Harris (6) and Manna (5) combined for 11 in the second quarter as the Blazers commandeered a 34-30 halftime lead.

Lighthouse flipped the script in the third period, however, outscoring Marquette 27-13. The Blazers managed just four field goals in the frame. Harris had three of those for seven points.

Kobe and Harris guided a fourth-quarter comeback that erased a 10-point deficit. Kobe landed a pair of treys while Harris knocked down five-of-seven free-throw attempts. Manna added four as the Blazers and Lions were tied 68-all after four quarters.

Manna recorded a basket and went 2-for-2 from the line in the extra session while Harris and Kobe added a bucket each. The Blazers emerged from Gary with a 76-75 triumph.

Balling contributed nine points to the cause while Gary Lewis chipped in six.

Marquette (4-3) heads into Christmas break on a three-game winning streak. The Blazers have 11 days before returning to play in the Hebron-Boone Grove Tournament where they’ll face Winamac on December 29th at 12:30 pm at Boone Grove High School.
