Senior Ally McConnell registered 23 points versus South Bend Saint Joseph, but the Blazers fell 67-42 to the Indians at the Scholl Center. Saturday’s performance marked her third consecutive game of 20 points or more.
McConnell and sophomore guard Ana Blakely accounted for Marquette’s four points in the first quarter as Saint Joseph led 17-4 after eight minutes of play.
McConnell posted 11 points in the second frame as the Blazers kept it to a 31-17 contest at the break.
Despite being outscored 18-5 in the third period, Marquette competed to the end. Mary Kate Bobillo popped a pair of threes in the fourth quarter while McConnell added seven to her total. Five of Ryleigh Grott’s seven points were scored in the final eight minutes.
Marquette (8-10) closes out a three-game homestand Tuesday evening when it welcomes LaCrosse at 7 pm.
