Junior Sean Bardol skated to a 6-1, 6-0 victory atop singles play to boost his record to 5-1, but host Illiana Christian managed a season split with the Blazers following its 4-1 win Friday evening in Dyer.
Bardol won handily over Matthew Smits at No. 1. Cormack Bardol dropped a 6-0, 7-6 (3) affair to Eddie Huang at No. 2. Noah Wadle and Justin VanDrunen went back-and-forth for an hour and 45 minutes at No. 3 singles before VanDrunen escaped with a 6-3, 6-4 win.
Illiana Christian took the 4-1 team victory thanks to a sweep of doubles play.
Marquette’s No. 1 tandem of Aidan McDonnell/Brendan Mack fell 6-3, 6-2 to Tyler Barker/Gabe VanRoekel. No. 2 doubles went the Vikings’ way when Will Gibson/Wesley Otlhof knocked off sophomores Colin Thompson and Riggs Bardol by a score of 6-1, 6-2.
The Blazers (3-3) returns to the Elston Courts Tuesday afternoon when Lake Station comes to town for a 5:00 pm match.
