Marquette's triumvirate of seniors went out on a high note Thursday at Sandy Pines Golf Club as part of the IHSAA Lake Central Regional. The Blazers made an 18-stroke improvement over last year's round by finishing with a team score of 352 Senior Kai Keehn's second shot of the day, a 78-yard pitch from the fairway of No. 10, found the bottom of the cup for eagle. He shot a 43 on the back nine, followed by a 46 to break 90 (89) in his prep finale. Senior Max Olesker carded a team-low 81 to finish seven strokes back of the third and final spot to qualify for an individual berth in next week's State Finals. Marquette's captain shot a steady 41-40 during a round that included 10 pars. Senior Trent Moyer fired a 49 on his first nine holes of the day, but recovered admirably with a 43 on his final nine. Moyer played three-over golf across his last seven holes to finish strong. Sophomore Aedan Hassett rallied toward the end of his round, notching a birdie during an even-par stretch over four holes, to record a 90. He added six pars to his birdie on No. 7. Fellow sophomore Brady Pawlak registered a 109 in his regional debut. Trinity Academy claimed the regional title with a 299. Elkhart placed second with a team score of 310. South Bend Saint Joseph (316) edged out Valparaiso (316) for the third and final team spot in next week's State Finals by virtue of the fifth-player score tiebreaker. Marquette bids farewell to its three aforementioned seniors, as well as Johnathan Madura and Liam Neary. The Class of 2026 helped propel the Blazers to back-to-back regional appearances. Marquette Athletics extends its gratitude to those five seniors for their contributions to the program, particularly for the professionalism and sportsmanship that left a lasting legacy.
