Junior Alaïs Acosta led the Blazers in scoring Tuesday for the first time in her career as her round of 41 steered Marquette to a 183-212 win over South Central at Hamlet Golf Club. Acosta played +2 golf across the final six holes of Hamlet's front nine to card a 41 (+6). She ended the day with five pars overall (Nos. 1, 4, 6, 7, 9). Marissa Pleasant started her round with a birdie on No. 1, a 295-yard par 4. The senior added a par on No. 7 to cap off a round of 43. Junior McKenzie Bonez-Shepherd played her best golf across the last six holes as she recorded three pars during a four-over-par span. Senior Ava Schultz rounded out the scoring for the Blazers with a 54. Tuesday represented a 40-stroke improvement for Marquette over last season's round at Hamlet GC. South Central's Braxtyn Wagnor clinched medalist honors with a 39 (+4). Neither Oregon-Davis nor Tri-Township had enough participants to record a team score. Marquette will meet South Central again Monday afternoon. The Blazers and Satellites will tee-off at Michigan City Municipal North Course at 4:30 pm.
