Marquette and Calumet New Tech went to third-set tiebreakers in three of its five flights Tuesday afternoon before the Blazers emerged with a 4-1 victory at the Elston Courts. Senior Ellis Dunham captured a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles. Fellow senior Colin Cubberley rallied to seize a 3-6, 7-6 (5), 10-8 classic at No. 3 singles. Senior Evan Lahart went the distance at No. 2 singles before falling 5-7, 6-1, 7-10. Senior Joey Starett and freshman Grant Wolferd gutted out a 6-4, 4-6, 10-7 triumph atop doubles play. Senior Asher Bane and junior Seph Kolosci capped off the day with a 6-2, 7-6 (3) win at No. 2 doubles. Marquette (1-1) will hit the road Tuesday to meet Hammond Academy of Science & Technology at 5 pm.
