Marquette dropped a tight 3-2 decision to Washington Township Thursday evening at the Marquette Athletic Complex. Washington Township scored its first goal on a penalty kick less than three minutes into the contest. Senior Layla Clemons evened things up at 1-1 eight minutes later on a goal set up by junior Aggie Pezzuto. The Senators answered right back just a minute later before tacking on another just before halftime. Clemons and Pezzuto flipped the script in the 73rd minute when the senior fed the junior for a goal to make it a one-score game. The eventual equalizer eluded Marquette, however. Thursday represented Marquette's first match decided by one goal. The Blazers (5-5) will continue their four-game homestand Saturday when Bishop Noll visits the Marquette Athletic Complex for a 12 pm start.
