For the fourth consecutive year, Marquette has advanced out of the IHSAA La Porte Girls Golf Sectional. With a team score of 423, the Blazers claimed second place out of nine competing teams at Beechwood Golf Club Monday morning. Senior Marissa Pleasant fired a 96 to lead Marquette. Junior McKenzie Bonez-Shepherd carded a 101. Junior Alaïs Acosta posted a 111, and senior Ava Schultz came in with a 115. La Porte secured the sectional championship with a team score of 376. Marquette will continue its postseason run Saturday morning at Sandy Pines Golf Club in DeMotte as part of the IHSAA Lake Central Regional. Hole assignments and tee times will be announced later this week.
