Marquette dropped its sectional opener 5-0 to La Porte Tuesday afternoon at Kesling Park. Senior Ellis Dunham battled to the bitter end, but fell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Fellow senior Colin Cubberley suffered a 6-0, 6-2 setback at No. 2 singles, while senior Evan Lahart ended up on the wrong end of a 6-0, 6-2 decision at No. 3. Freshman Grant Wolferd and junior Mateo Gonzalez fell 6-0, 6-0 atop doubles play. Senior Asher Bane and junior Seph Kolosci dropped a 6-0, 6-1 duel at No. 2 singles. The loss signaled the conclusion of the careers of five Blazers: the four aforementioned seniors along with Jack Davila. Marquette Athletics commends them for their contributions to the boys tennis program.
