Freshman Maeve Hadenfelt logged her sixth hat trick of the season, and senior Layla Clemons added two more goals in a 5-2 win Wednesday at Morgan Township. The win boosted the Blazers' regular-season record to 8-8 as they head into next week's sectional opener. Junior Andi Fontanez set up Hadenfelt in the fifth minute for the tilt's first score. Morgan Township answered back with a goal of its own three minutes later. It stayed a 1-1 contest for all of 18 seconds before Clemons broke loose on a breakaway and found the back of the net. Hadenfelt made it a 3-1 game in the 17th minute with her second strike of the night. Clemons made the lead swell further when she converted a penalty kick with 4:14 remaining on the first-half clock. Hadenfelt notched the hat trick in the 53rd minute to put the match on ice. Marquette (8-8) will open its postseason next Wednesday at Newton Park, where it will take on host Laville at 7 pm ET/6 pm CT for a spot in Saturday's sectional championship match.
