Marquette and Laville appeared destined for extra time in their boys soccer sectional opener in South Bend Tuesday. However, the Lancers broke a scoreless tie with 2:31 remaining in regulation, a goal that held up as the match's lone score. The Blazers had their best scoring chance in the 10th minute when junior Soren Christensen lobbed a shot over the Laville keeper that rang off the crossbar. Senior goalkeeper Sean Triemstra corralled three first-half saves to keep it a 0-0 contest after 40 minutes. Neither team was able to capitalize on its chances until the 78th minute when Laville sent a shot into the upper-right corner of the Blazer goal from outside the box. The 1-0 defeat signaled the end of the season and the prep careers of five graduating seniors: Triemstra, Noah Aguilar, Andrew Pleasant, Keegan Recktenwall, and Tim Wadle.
