Marquette mounted a determined, dogged effort Thursday night at Kouts to avenge an early-season loss to Morgan Township. The Blazers reversed a 3-0 loss on September 16 by sweeping the Cherokees to advance to Saturday's sectional semifinal against the host Fillies. Marquette and Morgan went point-for-point in the early going until the Blazers closed the opening set on a 12-4 run to seize a 25-14 win. The Cherokees led for the majority of the second game before Marquette grabbed its first lead at 18-17. Morgan wrestled back a lead until Marquette regained a 21-20 cushion and closed out a 25-22 victory to take a two-sets-to-none advantage. The Blazers didn't let up in the third set as they outpaced Morgan Township 25-22 in the third and final set. Marquette (27-5) will square off against Kouts on Saturday at 12:30 pm. The winner will stick around to take on the Washington Township/Hammond Academy of Science & Technology winner in the Sectional 49 title match at 6 pm.
